Verify income and employment within the Encompass® by ICE Mortgage Technology® platform.
Overview#
Entirely within the Encompass® by ICE Mortgage Technology® platform, you can verify income and employment using Argyle's direct connections to U.S. employee payroll accounts.
- Access and view W-2's and paystubs from connected payroll accounts.
- Generate Verification of Income and Verification of Employment reports.
How it works#
- Borrowers are invited to securely share their income and employment information by connecting their payroll accounts through Argyle.
- Upon successful connection, selected payroll documents and Argyle reports are made available in the loans' eFolders within Encompass®.
- Connected accounts are monitored for new payroll documents, and new verification reports can be continuously generated throughout the mortgage loan origination process.
Admin setup — manual ordering#
Step 1 — manual#
- Log in to Encompass Web® with an administrator account and select Admin within the applications dropdown.
- Select Services Management within the SERVICES dropdown.
- Select Add Service and choose the Verifications category.
- Search for Argyle - Verification of Income/Employment and then select Manual.
Step 2 — manual#
- Choose a Service Setup Name and add Authorized Users.
- Click Save.
Step 3 — manual#
- After Argyle is added to your configured services, select Credentials.
- In the pop-up, enter your Argyle API key and secret, which can be found or created in the Developers section of Argyle Console. Then click Save.
- After saving and exiting, set the Status toggle to ON.
Step 4 — manual#
- Enable the Encompass integration in the Integrations section of Argyle Console by clicking Enable.
- (Optional) Selecting Edit after enabling the integration allows you to select an invitation Flow (customized borrower experience) from a dropdown of your saved Flows.
Step 5 (optional) — manual#
Employer match is an optional feature that can only be used with Search email/SMS template invitation Flows.
If the user's employer is already known, when ordering a verification (Step 2) Encompass users can search Argyle's coverage for that employer by selecting Employer match.

Selecting a single employer will adjust the invite so the user is sent directly to that employer's login screen in Link, bypassing search entirely.

Selecting multiple employers will adjust the invite so the user is only shown the selected employers, streamlining their search experience in Link.
Employer match can be enabled when editing your Encompass configuration within the Integrations section of Console.
Step 6 (optional) — manual#
To assign different Link Flows to separate campaigns, branches, or doing-business-as (DBA) units, edit your Encompass configuration within the Integrations section of Console and assign Flows to specific OrgIDs.
- The OrgID associated with each loan file will determine which Link Flow is used.
- This allows you to have different branding for different branches, for example.
If you use nCino as your POS alongside Encompass as your LOS, you can optionally enable the nCino toggle so all PDF documents and verification reports requested in nCino will automatically be sent to the relevant eFolder within Encompass.
Step 7 (optional) — manual#
- Select Doc Mapping to customize which eFolder should automatically receive each type of Argyle verification report and retrieved payroll document.
Admin setup — automated ordering#
Step 1 — automated#
- Log in to Encompass Web® with an administrator account and select Admin within the applications dropdown.
- Select Services Management within the SERVICES dropdown.
- Select Automation Rules.
- Within the Verifications dropdown, select Add.
Step 2 — automated#
- Select ASO Bot as the Rule type.
- Provide a Rule Name and Rule Description.
- Add readiness conditions in the Condition Editor to your Automated Service Order.

- Click Add to Service Orders.
- Select Argyle - Verification of Income/Employment in the pop-up. Then click Create.
Step 3 — automated#
- Make sure the Active toggle is set to ON.
- Select Individual Level as the Evaluation Level.
- Provide a Service Order Name.
- Add Automated Readiness Conditions.

- Click Add to Automated Options.
Step 4 — automated#
- Choose how borrowers are invited to connect their payroll accounts via Argyle.
Email and SMS is recommended and generally provides the best overall response rate.
- Select which payroll documents should automatically be pushed to eFolder.
- All payroll documents will be retrieved and available for manual review, and can be pushed to eFolder as needed.
- Verification reports will always automatically be pushed to eFolder.
- Verification reports can also be created at a later time.
- Click Create template.
Step 5 — automated#
This step can be skipped if you already configured your credentials in Step 3 of Admin setup — manual ordering

- After Argyle is added to your configured services, select Credentials.
- In the pop-up, enter your Argyle API key and secret, which can be found or created in the Developers section of Argyle Console. Then click Save.
Step 6 — automated#
This step can be skipped if you already enabled the integration in Step 4 of Admin setup — manual ordering

- Enable the Encompass integration in the Integrations section of Argyle Console by clicking Enable.

Verifying income and employment#
Step 1 — verifying#
- Select a loan in Encompass®.
- Under Services:
- [Web] Select All Services and then Order Service. In the pop-up, click Verifications under Categories.
- [SmartClient] Select Order Verifications.
- In the pop-up, select Argyle — Verification of Income/Employment under Providers. Then click Next/Submit.
Step 2 — verifying#

Select your desired borrowers within Argyle's verification interface. Then click Continue.

Choose how borrowers are invited to connect their payroll accounts via Argyle.

Select which Payroll documents should automatically be pushed to eFolder.

If enabled during Admin setup, selecting Employer match opens up a search interface (see example image below) where the user's known employer(s) can be selected.

On the left-hand side, Cc additional members of your team you want to be notified (in addition to yourself) when a report is available for the user.
Suggested team members are populated from contacts attached to the loan file. Standalone emails can also be entered.

Click Submit.
Step 3 — verifying#
- Submitted orders will appear with a Sent status.
Step 4 — verifying#
- Upon submission, borrower(s) are sent an email and/or text invitation asking them to connect their payroll accounts.
- Borrowers are then directed to Argyle's payroll connection process in Argyle Link.
Step 5 — verifying#
- The borrower's status will change to Connected after they successfully connect their
payroll account(s) through Argyle.
If the borrower's status remains Sent, after selecting View order an option to resend the original invitation to the borrower's email or an option to copy a URL that will directly connect the borrower to Argyle's payroll connection experience are available.
- Select View order to view Argyle reports and retrieved payroll documents.
- You can also view reports and documents in the Connections section of Console. Each borrower will have an external identifier that matches their Loan # on Encompass®.
Step 6 — verifying#

Reports and payroll documents are made available within the Argyle interface after a successful Connection.
- Argyle reports are automatically pushed to eFolder.
- For Paystubs and W-2's selected in Step 2:
- W-2's from the previous two years are automatically pushed to eFolder.
- Paystubs from the previous 30 days are automatically pushed to eFolder.
- Other W-2's and Paystubs are available to Preview and push to eFolder as needed.

Argyle maintains an ongoing connection to the borrower's connected payroll accounts and will continue to retrieve new data and documents as they become available.
- New payroll documents will automatically be forwarded and appear in the Argyle interface within Encompass®, and can be previewed and pushed to eFolder as needed.
- New verification reports can be generated as needed with refreshed payroll data by selecting + New report. All verification reports will automatically be pushed to eFolder.
Reconnections#
The logos of individual Payroll accounts will have small green circles that indicate if an ongoing connection has been maintained (filled state) or has been interrupted (outlined state). More information is shown upon hover.
- To re-establish a lost connection, Resend the invitation to the borrower. The borrower will be able to enter Argyle Link and re-establish the connection in one click (no login credentials needed).
Day 1 Certainty® and AIM#
Argyle's income and employment verification reports provide lenders an automated way to achieve Day 1 Certainty® through Fannie Mae's Desktop Underwriter® (DU®) validation service and assessment of borrower income and employment through Freddie Mac's asset and income modeler (AIM).
Reach out to your Customer Success Manager to enable Argyle's Day 1 Certainty® and AIM functionality.
